Lørdagen, 29. august gjør vi Trondheims kulturkvartal om til én stor BLOCK PARTY!
Sammen med de kreative kreftene i kulturkvartalet SELLANRAA Bok & Bar , Trondheim folkebibliotek & Litteraturhuset fyller vi dagen med kunst, musikk, samtaler, filmvisninger, verksteder, mat, DJ-er og mye mer.
BLOCK PARTY er gratis og åpent til alle!
BLOCK PARTY er inspirert av den haitisk-amerikanske kunstneren Jelsen Lee Innocents utstilling The World, The Flesh and The Devil, som vises på Kunsthall Trondheim. Fellesskapene som preger kunstnerskapet hans, danner utgangspunktet for hele arrangementet.
Med inspirasjon fra nabolagsfester og cookouts i New York, og fra Haitis rike tradisjon for gatefester og festivaler, ønsker BLOCK PARTY å gjøre det disse tradisjonene alltid har handlet om: samle mennesker, ønske alle velkommen og gjøre gata til en arena for fellesskap og glede. Haiti er hjertet i BLOCK PARTY, slik landet også står sentralt i Innocents utstilling. Denne dagen flytter den pulsen ut i gatene – stolt, kreativ og umulig å overse.

One block, one big celebration!
On 29 August, we're turning Trondheim's culture quarter into one big BLOCK PARTY!
Together with the creative minds of Trondheim's kulturkvartal @sellanraabar , Trondheim folkebibliotek & @litteraturhuset we're filling the day with art, music, talks, film screenings, workshops, food, DJs and so much more.
BLOCK PARTY is free and open to everyone!
BLOCK PARTY takes its inspiration from Haitian-American artist Jelsen Lee Innocent's exhibition The World, The Flesh and The Devil, on view at Kunsthall Trondheim, with the artist’s communities as its guiding spirit.
Drawing on New York cookouts and the neighborhood celebrations and festivals of Haiti, BLOCK PARTY aims to do what those traditions have always done: gather people, welcome everyone in, and turn the street into a stage of shared joy. Haiti beats at the heart of BLOCK PARTY, just as it does in Innocent's exhibition. On August 29 that heartbeat spills into the streets on its own terms: proud, creative and impossible to ignore.
