Ahead of the Contact Impro Festival, we welcome you to a CI-Lab - an intensive 3-hour workshop in contact improvisation.

CI-Lab is an improvisation laboratory for artists from all disciplines and the community of movement enthusiasts in Trondheim.

Contact improvisation (CI) is a dance technique in which points of physical contact provide the starting point for exploration through movement improvisation. The workshop offers an introduction to CI and a playful approach to the following themes: rolling point of contact, giving/receiving/sharing weight, leading and following, lifting and rolling. We start with a warm-up focusing on bodywork and body awareness that gives an introduction to touch and listening through body surfaces. We move on to explore different movement tasks and technical skills for safe practice. We finish with an open jam where you can play with the learned material and discover your own dance.

Dance experience is not required! Doors open 15 minutes before the event and will be closed by the start of the event.

Price: 150-500 NOK (Sliding scale)
Drop-in price must be paid upon arrival before the workshop via vipps or cash. The sliding scale system allows you to pay according to your financial situation. By paying more you make it possible for others to pay less.

ImproDans Trondheim wants to offer an open, free, and safe space for movement and sound exploration and a playful approach to improvisation.

Ingeborg Dugstad Sanders and Anna Thu Schmidt are Trondheim-based dance artists who have been working together since 2017. Both share a passion for contact improvisation, dance improvisation, and integrated dance. Schmidt and Sanders explored the CI scene internationally for many years and have been hosting several contact improvisation workshops together in Trondheim.
